I was a little late to the game to fully bask in the majesty of the Elm City music explosion circa 1980. A blast of talent that arose and faded around the release of the compilation album, "It Happened But Nobody Noticed". As a teenage green-haired dork , I did play the record a good few many times on my walkman as I skated to and from my downtown adventures. Occasionally I might even be lucky enough to catch a performance by oneof the many bands on that record.
Around '83-'84 one of these acts I often caught live were the Miracle Legion. I was just learning how to play guitar and their song the Backyard, being just three chords super catchy, was one of theose songs I found myself playing over and over again.
Ten Years later in the mid nineties circumstances found Mark Mulcahy, the front man for the Miracle Legion, drifting into the social orbit of Northampton's premier venue, the Bay State Hotel. A good friendship subsequently formed. Infinitely more talented than I, it has always been a real honor to share a stage with Mark on occaision. We've even managed to play the Backyard together more than a few times over the years.
One day I got a call from him out of the blue. His idea, if I had the time to meet him, was to go to a nearby farm and film hm running with these pigs he had befriended. I had the time, and so we did. Here you have the result. A video that was an absolute honor and joy to make.
